black and white

July 29, 2014

In a world saturated with photos most all with bright, beautiful, colors, I find it refreshing to look at a well done black and white image.  Looking at the world in black and white makes you see things in a way that you wouldn't in color. Without color, textures and shadows become king. Most things do look better in color, but there are a few exceptions.

In addition to just creating a different view on the same thing, I think some things are just meant to be seen in black and white.  The Everglades is one such place. I have taken many photos there and never seem to like any of them in color, but take the color away and the photos pop!

Here are a few of my more recent shots of the Everglades that I knew had to be black and white to be appreciated.

This next one even has a rainbow in it but I still think something about black and white makes it superior to a color version of the same scene.
