Lake Superior

September 15, 2016

I recently discovered an amazing region that was right under my nose for years! The Lake Superior shoreline has got to be one of the most unknown and underrated places around. For close to 5 years I lived right on the east end of the lake and never truly got out and discovered all the hidden gems this shoreline has to offer. A friend and I had talked about taking on the adventure of circumnavigating the 1700+ miles of shoreline for a long time but never got around to planning something out. Finally after years of toying around with the idea, we set out on our two week adventrue.

As you travel around the lake you see a wide variety of impressive geological formations...

from sheer cliffs......

to secluded beaches.

Over the past few years I have had the opportunity to travel all over North America, including some of the most iconic places including, Yosemite, the Grand Tetons, the amazing coastlines of the pacific northwest, and the beautiful beaches of Florida, just to name a few. But I must say, Lake Superior offers views and potential for adventures that rival all of those famous places. My favorite part of this trip....the lack of crowds! All of those other amazing places I have been feel a little bit like being in an amusement park; wait in line to see an attraction, then rejoin the crowd to get to the next one. But because lake superior is so much less visited, it means most places we went, we had to ourselves!
